All ye who love sweets, rejoice! Le Gateau Patisserie officially opened on the 18th February 2017 in Laitumkhrah, Shillong. Le Gateau is a French word, meaning ‘The Cake’.
“I developed my love for food since I can remember and hence, loved cooking and baking for my family and friends during occasions such Christmas, New Year’s,” says baker and owner, Priyanka Marak.
She owes her success to her friends and family for encouraging her to turn her passion into profession. Priyanka pursued her bakery and patisserie course in Delhi, but is considered to be mostly self-taught.

It’s most popular sugary treats are Victoria Sponge Cake, Honey Cake, Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cupcakes and Macaroons!
According to the baker, the most important tip for running a successful bakery is to never compromise on the quality of the products, be open to feedback and keep improving baking skills.
Her top picks are strawberry, honey, lemon and chocolate flavours.
