1. Café Riverrun:
If you’re thinking of taking your laptop, finding your spot and getting some serious work done, then Café Riverrun is the place for you. With a breath-taking view of the mighty Brahmaputra, it is quiet and comforting. The café is also one of those few places in Guwahati that allow customers to see their food being prepared at a live counter.

2. Phat Town:
Phat Town serves the most-amazing burgers in Guwahati. Although a new entrant, it’s very impressive menu has been making some loyal visitors. For pork lovers, you must pig out on its juicy “Sliced Pork” or “Tuna Bacon” burgers. Also, this is perhaps the only affordable place for all your bacon cravings. And guess what? It is has free Wi-Fi.

3. Urban Mantra:
Urban Mantra is a restaurant cum lounge. It may not be one of those fancy restaurants, but it definitely has its own charm and can accommodate large crowds. It gets even better when people groove to live bands. The walls are adorned with witty posters, giving a delightful edge to its décor. Food – Although a little expensive, the Indian food options make it worth the money. Drinks – Doesn’t make a hole in your wallet. Ideal if you want to treat a large group.

4. Shanghai Salsa:
This place is an old favorite of the city. It is the perfect place to hang out with family and friends. With a subtle and chilled out ambience, and soothing rock & roll numbers, the place is worth every penny that you pay. It is also a go-to place for all meat lovers. Its premiere beer options, fresh and aromatic food, and a cosy ambience make the place an all-rounder.

5. Café Guwahati:
You should head towards Café Guwahati if you are looking for relaxed afternoons and evenings, along with a few sets of the pool game. An apt place to unwind after a hard day’s work, to finish some office work or to catch-up with friends over a cup of tea or coffee. Finding a parking spot may sometimes be a mammoth task, but that is quickly compensated by its comfortable sitting arrangement, a relaxed ambience and an impeccable service. For breakfast lovers, we highly recommend its elaborate and sumptuous continental breakfast options.

6. By the Way:
A small joint that serves some of the best sandwiches, burgers and thukpas. Besides a lip-smacking food menu, which includes super-tender pork ribs, delicious salads, etc., you will definitely appreciate its homely and welcoming ambience. Friendly staff and talented chefs make sure that customers have a good time.

7. 11th Avenue Bistro:
One of the many bistros in Guwahati, this has been the hub for young, old, families, singles and couples. Surrounded by colleges, it is abuzz throughout the day. Serving American and Italian cuisine, it offers a wide choice of mocktails, shakes and hot beverages. The décor is minimalistic, funky, yet cosy. Its “Healthy Breakfast”, “Salads” and “Eggs” options have converted many non-breakfast eaters. We did experience slow service a couple of times, but that was only during peak hours, perhaps due to a shortage of staff. The bistro has a stunning view of a man-made pond for those wanting to eat their meal in peace while appreciating the nature.
