These very strong, capable and independent women believed in themselves and hence, have come out fiercely and passionately, paving their way towards bigger dreams— making success look a flawless, an effortless and a satisfactory destination.
With humble hearts, here are a few women (in no order of preference) who have made a mark not just within the Indian subcontinent, but also globally.
Geetanjali Thapa

This vivacious beauty recently bagged the 61st National Film Awards as the Best Actress for her role in Liar’s Dice. Did you know that she had her movie Monsoon Shootout filmed at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival? Her first ever Hindi film was ‘Tina ki Chabi’ (2010) and her first English film debut directed by Prashant Rasaily was made when she was still in school.
Mary Kom

Our very own fist pumper was a school drop¬out who made a remarkable stand in the rink even without the help of her parents—until she started winning titles majorly in the national and subsequently in the international circuits. Mary Kom’s first win was a silver medal at a boxing championship in Pennsylvania, US, after which she calmly boxed her way through to the gold medal at the AIBA World Women’s Senior Boxing championship. She was the only woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Jonali Saikia

Jonali Saikia is the founder of Heeya, which makes sarees and handcrafted garments for women from the underexposed communities in the Northeastern region of India. Heeya also works towards creating sustainable livelihoods for skilled artisans and weavers. Jonali was once a part of the corporate sector for 14 years. Born in the mystical land of Shillong, she began her venture into eco-friendly rare crafts in 2012. Currently, Heeya caters to the tier 1 and tier 2 cities in India and also has an NRI clientele.
Yana Ngoba

Yana Ngoba is making a big runway for herself in the international fashion arena. With her tribal creations, she represented India with her vibrant collection and culture-¬rich designs of Northeast in the London Fashion Week, 2015. Yana is currently aiming for Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week.
Monikangana Dutta

Monikangana is the first Indian “Victoria’s Secret Angel”. She moved to Paris in 2001 for two years to walk the ramp for Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Yoji Yamamoto, Leonard and Chloe. In 2010, she went to Milan for her first shoot alongside Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, et al. Her Bollywood debut was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzarish, co-¬starring Aishwarya Rai and Hritikh Roshan.
Tipriti Kharbangar

For TIPS (Tipriti), Blues chose her and not the other way round. As a singer and a performer of Soulmate, Tipriti has written many songs. She is one the finest female singers in India making her pace along with her partner Rudy Wallang at the international level. Her vocals are exuberated in such a way that they emanate happiness and a whole lot of strength. Tipriti began her singing career at the church singing gospels and moved ahead to represent some of the finest Blues musicians, namely, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Aretha Franklin.
Hasina Karbih
Hasina Karbih could inevitably be the curator of the highest level of social change in the society. When it comes to breaking the barriers of the modern day social evils, Miss Karbih (through her initiative named IMPULSE) has been rescuing trafficked women and children in and around Meghalaya. With her undying efforts, crime disorders in the Northeast India are lowering its rates profusely.
