The Great NE Momo Festival by Vas Incorporation began on Friday, 5 August 2016. Continuing their commitment towards the underprivileged, the team invited some of them from the vicinity to cut the inauguration ribbon. With a footfall of more than 2,500 on the first day, the organisers saw a very encouraging response. Stall owners were seen giving final touches to their set-ups, eagerly waiting for the festival to begin. A wide range of momos were served—from cheese momos to humungous smoked pork momos—and the crowd went berserk!
Although the weather was a little more humid than usual, which was followed by a light drizzle, it did not stop visitors from flocking in. Besides the local crowd, the festival saw many outsiders, including students from New Delhi and Kolkata.
There were numerous activities for visitors to take a break from their momo-eating spree. For example, Roposo engaged people with activities, such as the Water Pong. There are others stalls, such as those by Vespa, Santosh and the Highlanders, showcasing what they do best. There is a Photo Booth beautiful decorated with fairy lights and flowers. Most activities had prizes to win.
The organisers are also conducting a flood relief drive for all three days, to collect as much relief material as they can for victims of the unfortunate Assam floods.
Guwahati is a beautiful city and Nehru Park is an old and a very well-maintained park. Not just the city, but tourists and students have beautiful memories associated with it. Hence, it is a humble request to the visitors to use dustbins that have been placed at various locations inside the venue to dispose used plates and other garbage, and help the organisers to keep the environment clean.
The festival will go on till 7 August. So, stay green and enjoy the next two days at the Momo Festival with your loved ones.
